My approach

What happens in a therapy session?

Some sessions will be, as you may imagine, two people talking to one another, working with what emerges and thinking about what this means in the context of your relationship to yourself, other people, and your surrounding environment.

However, this process is not only about talking about what has bothered you recently, but is also a means of giving space to dreams, to the imagination, the aspects of yourself you may reject or find it hard to think about. Psychotherapy is therefore an effective means of naming and making sense of the experiences which trouble, baffle, or simply overwhelm you.

Whats the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

Both of these terms are often used interchangeably, but broadly speaking psychotherapy is more in depth work and takes more time than counselling. Depending on what you bring to therapy we can discuss which approach works best for you and whether you would like to come for counselling to address a specific issue or prefer more open ended psychotherapy.
